Bio

Born and raised in Rochester, New York, New York based trumpeter/Composer/Arranger Brian Pareschi has a Masters of Music in Jazz Composition and Arranging from Manhattan School of Music, and a Bachelors of Arts in Biology from University of Rochester.

Brian is very active and in demand on the Jazz/Commercial music scene in New York, and can be heard on everything ranging from TV and film soundtracks to jazz and big band recordings, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Broadway shows, and regularly performs in clubs all over NYC and the world. Brian has performed on the stages of many of the world's finest jazz festivals and concert halls, including The North Sea Festival, Umbria, Pori, Montreaux, Alandia Jazz Festival, New York's JVC Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center, City Center, and Carnegie Hall. Brian has toured and performed worldwide with a broad variety of artists, including Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, Tony Bennett, Phil Collins, Harry Connick Jr., Rufus Wainwright, Paul Anka, Debby Boone and Bobby Caldwell. He has also performed and/or toured with the New York City Ballet, the French National Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Harlem Nutcracker, and the Orchestras of Quincy Jones, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, the Lincoln Center and Afro Latin Jazz Orchestras, Dave Liebman, Louis Bellson, Bob Mintzer, Andy Farber, David Berger, Dave Matthews, Ken Peplowski, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Max Weinberg, Bjorkestra and the Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras. Brian has appeared on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Late Night With Stephen Colbert, Good Morning America, Harry!, Live With Kelly!, The Today Show, Late Night With David Letterman, and worked with a who's who of pop and jazz notables, including Aretha Franklin, Nancy Wilson, James Ingram, Patti Austin, Chaka Kahn, Bobby Mc Ferrin, Kurt Elling, Toots Thielsmann, Michel Legrand, Bobby Caldwell, Wynton Marsalis, Clark Terry, Phil Woods, Frank Wess, Jerome Richardson, Jerry Dodgion, Jon Faddis, Kenny Wheeler, Sir Roland Hannah, Monty Alexander, Kenny Wheeler, Bobby Durham, John Hendricks, Chuck Israels, Bobby Watson, Michael Feinstein, Ann Hampton-Calloway, The O Jays, The Four Tops and The New York Voices. 

More recently Brian has been heard in the orchestra the past six years at the Tony Awards, the 2013 Mark Twain Prize for Humor, and on Barbra Streisand's newest CD/DVD Back To Brooklyn, recorded live while on tour in the Fall of 2012. Brian recently performed with Rufus Wainwright at Carnegie Hall for a recreation of the famous Judy Garland performance Judy, Judy, Judy! He has been performing most recently with Seth MacFarlane on Late Night with Seth Meyers, and on numerous television shows with the cast of The Color Purple. Brian has also performed numerous Encores! series' at the esteemed City Center, the most recent being Me And My Girl this past year. Brian can be heard with world renowned jazz and stage vocalist Marilyn Maye, and with the Dave Liebman Orchestra. He can also be heard on recent CD releases by Andy Farber and His Orchestra, The Mike Fahie Jazz Orchestra, Manuel Valera and His New Cuban Express Big Band, Jihye Lee Jazz Orchestra and The Dave Liebman Orchestra.

His first recording as a leader marks a welcome departure from his work and career as a top call sideman in New York. His octet/nonet, The BP Express, releases it's debut recording in January 2015, featuring a very talented array of prominent sidemen. The band is as he describes "an extrememly versatile ensemble that reaches out in new directions, while embracing the tradition of jazz. This is a mid-sized ensemble with the ability to maintain the intimacy of a small group, and yet also project the concerted, organized and often powerful sound of a larger ensemble." This marks the first of what will be many projects what will showcase both the range of his playing and the versatility and scope of his writing. Brian will be releasing his newest recording in the spring of 2017 featuring his writing and playing with a quintet.

Brian's writing has not been limited to his own groups. In 2005 he was commissioned by the United States Marines' The President's Own to write an extensive piece embodying the work of Duke Ellington, and commemoration the 50th anniversary of the end of the Korean War. He has written for pop icon Bruce Springsteen and the Max Weinberg Big Band(of which he is a current member). He is also currently a member of the BMI Jazz Composers Collective, which composes and premieres new works for Jazz Orchestra each year.

Some of his film and television credits include Hail Caeser!, the hit TV show SMASH, The Great Debaters, Evening, The Informant, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Irishman and recordings for The Dave Liebman Orchestra, Dave Matthews MJO, Tori Amos, Catherine Russell, David Berger, Andy Farber, and Funkasaurus Rex. Brian is currently in the Broadway Orchestra for the upcoming show The Prom, and the original Blues and Rock band Desperate Measures. He has been a member of numerous pit orchestras for Broadway shows, including Escape To Margaritaville, Groundhog Day, The Color Purple, Motown:The Musical, Nice Work If You Can Get It, How To Succeed In Business, All About Me, 9 To 5:The Musical, All Shook Up, and A Year With Frog And Toad. He regularly performs as a member of the Encores! series Orchestra at New York City Center productions. Brian has appeared on Late Night With David Letterman with the Quincy Jones Orchestra, and for other various musical and stage acts. Brian has recorded a broad variety of commercial recordings for television and radio, ranging from American Express to Top Chef.

Brian is currently on faculty as Jazz Trumpet Instructor at Long Island University CW Post Campus. He also is frequently asked to teach at Colleges and Universities in and around New York City, including The Juilliard School, Rutgers University, Hunter College and SUNY Purchase. He was director of the Jazz Program at the Henry Street Settlement in NYC from 2003-2008. Brian is currently a member of the Mike Fahie Jazz Orchestra, James Langton's New York All-Stars, The David Berger Jazz Orchestra, and The Ron Sunshine Orchestra.

Brian currently leads his own Jazz Orchestra, as well as the BP Express, an octet/nonet, performing original compositions and arrangements in venues in and around New York City. Their premiere recording was released in January 2015 to critical acclaim, and has risen as high as #21 on the national jazz charts.
